Family Therapy and Blended Families
Family therapy is one of the ways to ease the adjustment of newly blended families. Divorce is still a common option between married couples, and as these newly divorced couples with children begin to go out and date again, eventually many o them meet another mate. When a marriage combines existing families, its an adjustment for everyone involved. The adults have a choice in how they blend their lives, the children, however generally do not.
Many difficulties can arise in blended families. The most common of these issues are:

- Blame
- Depression
- Confusion
- Loss of familial identity
All of these issues can be addressed with family therapy, where there are real solutions in an impartial zone. Many happy families today are the result of two (or more) families learning to work through the initial discomfort and find a place of belonging and love.

- Try to ensure the stepchildren have their own room or personal space, decorated the way they want. You can make it a project for the family to accomplish together, however take the lead from the child who‘s room it will be. If children are to share a room, just make sure their side of the room gets to be decorated using their imagination.
- Children have a greater difficulty with change, especially when it accompanies a complete lack of control over a situation as personal as family. Give them the time and space to talk about how the change is affecting them, and how they can ease the difficulty.
