Is Divorce a Solution?
The provision of divorce was brought into human society to make sure that one or both of the spouses in a marriage didn’t continue to suffer only because there was no way to get out of the relationship. Divorce is a great way to end an abusive relationship but it is not a way to end any relationship you think is not compatible.
Two individuals cannot be perfectly compatible from day one. It takes time for two people to bond. And they do bond, in spite of their different mindsets, goals, dreams and aspirations. Unfortunately, couples are not ready to give their relationships time; they want everything to be picture perfect. More often than not, they expect their marriages to be as picture perfect as the wedding they so meticulously organized. What they forget is that they don’t really make that kind of effort in making their marriage work.
The pettiest of disagreements and the slightest of provocations can make the couples queuing up to a divorce lawyer. Couples look at divorce as a solution. More often than not, they start looking at a picture-perfect life after divorce, sometimes alone and sometimes with a dream partner. What they don’t realize is that there is no guarantee that a second relationship or marriage will work their way.
It is important that couples start looking at divorce as a last resort. Of course, not all marriages have the scope to survive. If you are in an abusive relationship, it is recommended that you get out of it for your own sanity. However, it is also important not to label every marriage as an abusive one.
