Long Distance Couples Counseling

Marjorie and Jackson are a young couple experiencing marital difficulties. Luckily, even in their remote location in New England, they found a couples counselor they could speak with over the phone who is doing wonders with the two.

According to Marjorie:

Our phone appointments with Samantha are one of the most important things to us right now. We’ve come to really rely on her help…and her perspective! My gosh…that alone has made the world of difference. You just don’t see your problems as clearly until you get the chance to step away from them and look at them from a third party perspective. We were so nervous at first, dreading our initial appointment. Now we can’t wait for them. Because we know they’re working, they’re providing us with relief. After we’re done talking to Samantha, we have tangible steps to take to fix our problems. Before it was this big, scary blob – neither of us knew what to do!

Phone appointments are not the same as meeting with a counselor in person, obviously. There are certain limitations. But for couples like Marjorie and Franklin, it was their only choice. Phone appointments need not be depersonalized. Just as you know, a phone call from a friend can make a world of difference when you’re feeling down. A therapist is trained to bridge the gap to the best of his or her ability and provide relief for the complexities of marital problems that exist. So if you’re having trouble making the time to see a counselor or location is an issue, consider phone counseling as a viable option.
