Perceptive Counselor Helps Infidelity’s Victims

Caryn and Robert had been high school sweethearts and married after graduating college. Both career professionals, they enjoyed a rich life full of trips, adventures and vacations before they settled down to have children. After the birth of their first child, Marta, there developed a growing schism between them that had difficult with.

Robert was so angry and distant. IK knew that fatherhood was difficult for him and that he missed his freedoms, but it wasn’t until I found out that he was cheating on me that I knew how far he had strayed from our new family. I was devastated.

The couple attended counseling and slowly rebuilt their trust. Five years later, they had their second child, Brady. Less than a year after Brady was born, Caryn found that Robert was once again angry, distant and very unhappy. He admitted that he was again being unfaithful.

The couple entered into Marriage counseling again, though Caryn felt little hope for their marriage. Their perceptive counselor, realized that the infidelity in the marriage was not brought on by the difficulties of having children and adjusting to a new lifestyle, but directly related to Robert’s sexual needs. Caryn had little in the way of a sex drive in the first year after giving birth, and Robert blamed her lack of desire for his infidelity. The counselor instead offered treatment related to Roberts’ sexual addiction.

Armed with a new understanding of his need to address his problems, Robert was able to reconcile again with his wife. Thanks to a perceptive marriage counselor that looked beyond the typical relationship stress and into the patterns of that relationship.
