Do You Introspect About Your Relationship?
It is very easy to point the finger at others when something goes wrong between you and them. Are you in the habit of blaming your partner when your relationship takes a hit? You may turn to a relationship counselor when things go out of hand very badly, but there is a lot you can do even before you consult an expert. I am referring to introspection.
Now, introspection as a concept has become passé. No one seems to look into themselves anymore. Now, there is a simple rule when it comes to relationships: behave with him/her the way you want your partner to behave with you.
Let’s look at what you should look into in order to make your relationship happy.
- Analyze if you lose you anger more than often.
- Figure out if you criticize your partner frequently.
- Do you prioritize your career and your family over your partner’s?
- Find out if you rarely express affection in your relationship.
- Find out if you never really express any kind of appreciation for your partner.
- Do you not serve as the emotional haven for your partner?
Now, if your analysis of yourself says that you give more importance to the ‘I’ in your relationship, there is something wrong. You cannot be in a relationship and think about just yourself. Learn to look at everything from a ‘we’ perspective to improve your relationship. The more you start looking at things from your partner’s perspective, the more comfortable your relationship will be with him/her.
If you haven’t introspected in a long time, do that starting today. All the best!
