Anxiety Doesn’t Have To Paralyze
Anxiety can hold an iron grip on a person’s life. It can literally paralyze you right into inaction, or worse. But it doesn’t have to. There are ways to overcome anxiety so that it doesn’t rule and control you. The first step, however, is to recognize its symptoms.
Anxiety is a response to a perceived danger. When a danger presents itself there is a natural response to either fight or run. Adrenaline starts to rush through the body, the heart rate increases and your metabolism goes crazy. You feel the energy course through your body. This is natural when you face a danger. However, with anxiety it is often that such feelings continue after the perception of danger has passed. The person experiencing anxiety has trouble telling the difference between the real event and the aftermath of the event. An anxious person can be jittery and have a nervous reaction long after the danger has passed.
If you feel anxious about something when there seems no apparent reason to then seek a therapist to discuss your situation with. Anxiety can be overcome.
